Wild-Predators Preview


GAME: Minnesota Wild (38-35-7) at Nashville Predators (46-25-8).

TIME: Thursday, 8 p.m. EDT.

The Nashville Predators got a shutout from Chris Mason in their first game since announcing top goaltender Tomas Vokoun would miss the rest of the season because of blood clots. They're hoping another strong performance from their new No. 1 goalie will give Mason another boost of confidence as the playoffs approach.



Spector: Gaborik holds key to Wild future


Looking ahead to the off-season, Spector says the Minnesota Wild need to be chiefly concerned about one player: Marian Gaborik. The young sniper will be a restricted free agent this summer, and how Wild GM Doug Risebrough handles that situation can have an affect on the franchise's future.

Wild 2, Blackhawks 0 (AP)


Minnesota rookie goalie Josh Harding will be sad to see the NHL season end in a few days. On Tuesday night, Harding made 27 saves in his second NHL start and Stephane Veilleux scored the deciding goal on a third-period breakaway in the Wild's 2-0 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday night. It has been a perfect start for Harding, who beat St.

Sharks 5, Wild 1



If it wasn't for the Minnesota Wild, the San Jose Sharks might have already secured a playoff berth.

San Jose shook off three previous winless games against the Wild and beat Minnesota 5-1 Saturday night. The Sharks are still in danger of missing the postseason but they kept their late drive going.

In the midst of a five-game road trip, San Jose began the night in 10th place in the Western Conference. The top eight teams make the playoffs.




Cheechoo scores 45th as Sharks beat Wild



Jonathan Cheechoo scored two goals,
including his team-record 45th of the season, to help the surging Sharks beat the Wild 5-1.

Rolston, Bouchard rally Wild past Oilers



Brian Rolston and Joel Bouchard each had a goal and assist in the third period as the Minnesota Wild came back to beat the Edmonton Oilers 3-2 on Tuesday night.

Wes Walz also scored for Minnesota, which won for just the second time in six games but earned a fourth straight win in Edmonton.

Sergei Samsonov, Jarret Stoll scored for Edmonton, which opened a four-game homestand by losing a third straight home game.

The Oilers, who outshot the Wild 25-16, have nine games remaining.

Being the spoiler suits the Minnesota Wild just fine.

"Why not, you know?" right wing Pierre-Marc Bouchard said. "We want to try and make it harder for the other teams."

Bouchard scored the tying goal, and Brian Rolston got the winner in the third period as the 11th place Minnesota Wild came back to beat Edmonton 3-2 on Tuesday night. That prevented the third-place Oilers from gaining a share of the Northwest Division lead.




Wild-Canucks Preview



GAME: Minnesota Wild (33-32-7) at Vancouver Canucks (39-28-6).

TIME: Wednesday, 11 p.m. EST.

Over the next two games, the Vancouver Canucks can solidify their playoff hopes and almost assuredly end those of a division rival.

Surging Vancouver meets the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday in the start of two straight games between the teams at GM Place. They will play again in the season-series finale on Friday.
